As a part of the study, special attention is paid to the analysis of popular mythological plots that are broadcast in modern popular culture. The choice of the research methods is determined by the purpose and objectives of the paper: comparative-historical, comparative-religious, textual approach. The method of comparative studies revealed the patterns of development of mythology, its changes taking into account the needs of society. As a result of the study, it was revealed that mythology is divided into several types, each of which has its own peculiarities in the context of social and psychological standards of the social system, and fixed at certain times.
